We used phased array ultrasonic testing to test new economizer tube welds.  We were able to scan the welds during lunches without interrupting the welding progress of the project.

We were asked to determine the amount of bonding of a new babbitt surface of a bearing.  We accomplished by using conventional ultrasonic testing utilizing a straight beam transducer.  We determined that there was 24 square inches of disbond area which is less than 1 percent of the area.

Fatigue cracks were found on the sweep arm of a digester outlet device. The cracks were most of the way through the 2.5 inch thick carbon steel sweep arm. The cracks were repaired by welding. We inspected the repair weld with phased array ultrasonic testing to ensure the weld repair was free of cracking and welding defects.
